Egg Donation Programme

74 posts in this topic

Hi cheerin,

Mine ivf with donor eggs was by fresh transfer.

I did it at Metro ivf with Dr Tee. I remembered he had to adjust my cycle to match with my donor and he made my last cycle longer by 3 weeks using OCP.

Having triplet is exciting initially ( or as u said a gift) but now I realized there is risk especially early delivery. I have to give up my work and a lot of my daily routine....and most of the time just lie in bed.

I hope i can reach 36weeks which is what doc aimed

Good luck to u

Hi isharin,

Congratulation on yr triplet pregnancy.

Wow! you r great to be gifted

May I know whether your ivf with donor egg is by fresh transfer or FET?

Where did u do your ivf?

Hi Nicole,

I agree with charlotte, a good donor is one who has given birth or success before in donation. Otherwise will need to choose one that is less than 30 yr. That what my doctor told me. In my case my donor has not donated before and I depend on my doctor. He access the donor's profile and said its ok. He was right cos I m now pregnant with triplet. ........I may be the first egg recipient with triplet. I cant believe it. Haha. I thank everybody who has help me in anyway.

So. if you cannot decide ..let doctor decide for u.

Hi Charlotte

Congratulation on your twins. It may be a triplet cos your bhcg is too high 1000+. My bhcg at 8 days after ET was 140 and was a triplet. I wish u well.

Hi wonderbaby23,

I did try to get a donor myself. Its was not easy to get a donor cos I din have connection. So I leave it to the doctor.

Happy searching and hope u find a good one.

Hi Charlotte, susulin, isharin.

Thanks for sharing.

I m beginning to think that after repeated failure, its better to use donor egg cos its cost saving in long term. 20% success compare with 70% with donor.

Some more it can save the stress of repeated failure.

Hi,

Congratulation to all of you. I am considering using egg donor. As i know the successful rate is much higher. If v consider using egg donor , do v need to go thru down syndrome test such as blood test, amino test? Usually ppl who go thru ivf will have multiple pregnancy & also pre-term delivery. I had a friend who did ivf having twin but she delivered on 7 months & the babies need special care. The hospital bill came to more than RM50,000.

Donor IVF is higer in general yes, but there are uncertainties to take into consideration too. Here is a not so great story about my relative who went for Donor Ovum IVF recently. She went for Donor Ovum IVF with the belief that the % of success (About 50-60% as quoted by most fertility specialists) is so much higher than using her own eggs due to age factor (She is late 30). Unfortunely her belief ended up her worst nightmare. She got a donor through the hospital who is in her mid 20 with a so-called proven sucess record as per the hospital. Everything went smoothly (Donor's jabs, recipient's endometrium lining was growing well at 9+ near to the date of ER)....on the day of ER, she got a shocking news from the doctor telling her that of all the 10+ follicles retrrived from the donor , most are empty follicles and only one made it to fertilisation. Needless to say, the only one which was transferrred on day 3 eventhough it grew to 7 cell then failed to make it at last. This has finally shattered her belief that donor can do a better job than herself. Her DH's sperm was not an issue as SA test was done prior to the IVF. So, to all ladies who are considering Donor IVF, do account for this unfortunate uncertainly as well. Eventhough a donor with a proven sucess record can never guarantee that she can produce the same on her next cycle. My relative ended up paying RM20K+ for one miserable egg.

So much uncertainty when come to fertility treatments ya? Maybe this is an isolated case, no one would know the outcome. It is all in the hands of God. Did your relative confirm having low ovarian reserve (high FSH)?

I posted shortly about myself going through embryo adoption in the other thread. That thread is getting too long & postings are all over the place. Lately it is also flooded with pregnancy postings which should be under new thread already. How come the moderator not doing anything to control?

Come back to my subject which is embryo adoption.... for those of you who do not wish to proceed with sperm donor or egg donor, there is another option - embryo donation / adoption. Not many clinics offer this service. Due to sperm problem, we had one failed IVF. Dr advised to go for sperm donor. We thought about it & don't feel lead to that direction. So we end up adopting embryo from two families. Six embryos transferred, one made it and become my beloved son.

My point is - repeatedly failed IVF (donor or own) is not the end of the road. There are other options available if your heart is opened to them.

Hi all

I’m newbie here. Glad to find this forum and get to know all of you. In fact, all of your TTC journey indeed touching and encouraging. Thanks for sharing and I treasure the advice and great experience you all posted.

Hubby and I are 38 this year, gotten married for 9 year plus. We had tried 4 IUIs and took 3 years of TCM, of course there was nothing happened. Two years ago, we completely gave up in view that I’ve high FSH and no confidence and courage to proceed with IVF due to many factors.

In Jun, hubby and I decided to consult fertility specialist. Same diagnosis, poor ovarian reserve from the result of vaginal scan. Hubby SA has very low normal sperm morphology. Dr. offered two options, prescription of DHEA prior to IVF/ ICSI (short protocol) and egg donation program. Without second thought, hubby and I opted for egg donation program and on the same day, we managed to choose 2 donors whom hubby and I are comfortable with. One as a backup in case the first donor is not available. Due to my tight working schedule and don’t feel like rushing, I wanted to start after Aug, thus Dr. prescribed 2 months of Progyluton and 3 months of folic acid. One month after the consultation, the nurse called and informed that first donor has confirmed.

Thank God that the preparation is pretty smooth at this moment. The donor and I have something in common; her menses is just 3 days ahead of mine (I didn’t know this when chose her), we have same blood group and quite similar features. The only regret is most of the donors are not highly educated but to us, as long as we succeed in the procedure and deliver a healthy baby/ babies, then we should be grateful already.

There are about one or two months to go for the procedure. Looking forward to it but of course I try not to over react and too excited. I really like to read the posts in this forum because it helps me to understand the procedure further, and most importantly, cheer each other up. Quite sad when I saw this forum being quiet recently. I also follow the other forum which Grace20 mentioned was ‘flooded’ now. Anyway, hope this forum is reactivated soon.

Prior to signing off, wish all the mothers-to-be a smooth pregnancy. Also to those who are trying, wish you the best and God bless!

tengteng, I adopted through Tropicana Medical Center, Dr Leong. But he no longer there... maybe u can see Dr Surinder because the other thread recommends him. Rest assure adoption is not the second or third best, it is the best under our circumstances.

Grateful, your donor is long protocol or short protocol? And how we make sure the donor is on time on the ivf jab?

Tengteng, I do not know which protocol my donor will be undergoing. The commitment of the donor is really beyond our control. I leave it to Dr and i believe the Dr will monitor for us.

May i know how many times have you tried IVF? Any reason being given that your cycle failed which make you consider egg donation/ embryo adoption?

I have failed many attempts of ivf for the last 5yrs. I can produce my own eggs but just that I have problem carry them. Thus we are looking for the option of finding a surrogate mother to help us on this.

Anyone knows which centre in malaysia provide surrogacy service?

Thank you

Hi all, this is thread still a live ?

I have failed 3 IUI and 2 IVF. on the last one, doctor told me that my egg is genetically not good and I have to have many IVF attempt to get the good quality egg. But my husband oppose to the 3rd IVF fearing that I can get cancer from it.

I then started to do Accupuncure here in Jakarta, and consume Fertilaid from Fair Haven. 2.5 months of fertilaid and almost 4 months of accupunture, I was pregnant but too bad it was BO so we have to get rid of it.

It has been 8 months since the pregnancy and I am getting older (I will 36 this year) and don't want to wait anymore.

Thank you for sharing and congratulation to all moms that get pregnant in this tread.

we will be going to Sunfert, maybe around March. We have contacted the PIC there and he has bee very helpful.  Thankfully my profile is very common and they have the egg donor is ready for us.

Hi I am new here. Just want to share my experience. I have a sister who is a slow learner and another one who is mentally retarded. I suspect I might be the carier of the bad genes based on my family trait. So we did our IVF in TMC with the help of egg donor. Got a total of 4 embryos but only one survived resulting in a baby boy.  My boy is almost 2 now and I really wish to have one more child but going for the second cycle of IVF with donor egg is too costly. Any one with similar experience or background?

Turning 36 in 4 months time & after 2.5 IVF failed cycles within 13 months, I am considering to go for the donor programme. I'm keen to find a good centre where they allow me to choose the donor with clinic guidance (as we need need to take the overall health, fertility condition, past record of the donor, blood group into consideration). Anyone here has any suggestion?

Hi Emma05,

You can approach Sunfert (Dr Wong) or Alpha Fertility. They have donor profiles where you can look at basic information such as pictures, education, blood group, height and weight. Alternative is go through egg agency such as Christine from Heart2ART. There are a few others in KL I believe.

Wish you all the best.
