I heard that Dr Collin Lee from Damansara Fertility Centre is an expert in IVF

but the charges is expensive too!

I did IVF end last year and now I am 34 weeks pregnant. Before IVF, I had a hard time sourcing for the right gynae; in fact, been to see Dr Colin Lee, Dr Andy Low (did IUI and fibroid-removal treatment) and finally Dr Mak Foo Sing. Chose Dr Mak cos he's really professional, friendly and warmth. He is not "commercial"like a lot of gynaes out there. His charges are very very reasonable too. I was quoted between RM20K-25K with Dr Colin but I paid ard RM15k with Dr Mak. Hope this helps.

hi aishiteru,

tq! glad to be talking to u gals here in this thread!!

not every pregnancy via IVF will get multiples, it all depends on your genes really, and luck :)

my mom is 1 of the twin sister and yet none of her 5 children hv ever got twins.

mine is a baby gal :)

yup, i did a rough calculation, though it was progressive payments (at different stage pay different amts depends on the treatment you receive), all in was abt RM15k, of course the post consultations are not inclusive.

to start with, my gynae gave me hormonal medicine for self jabs (tummy area).

this process lasts abt 1 mth, after which he adds a 2nd jab for the nx 2 wks.

the 1st jab (dunno wut the medicine is called) was meant for stimulating egg growth, in numbers.

the 2nd jab was to increase the size, or rather maturity, of these eggs.

these jabs make your body "swelled" as if you are already pregnant. :)

then i was booked into SJMC for egg collection (while my DH was brought to another room for sperm collection), this process needs GA and my tummy felt quite sore after that.

a few days later went to SJMC again for planting the fertilised embryo into my womb.

i did it with Dr Mak Foo Sing in Kuchai Lama.

he's real good, patient, friendly and warm.

i had some bad experiences with other gynaes who give you the impression that he is out to earn your money only.

ask a few more questions only already frown and become terse in his answers.

:(

if you need Dr Mak's contact details, i can email you.

hi there,

no worry, i'm glad i am able to help you here.... :)

i don think he sees patients in sjmc.

but you can call and chk.

the entire process till embryo implant took me almost 2 mths.

dr managed to collect 9 eggs for fusion with my DH's sperm.

but only put in 4 sets (he said that's the max) that is best quality one, hehe.

while 3 sets failed and "hilang", 1 set managed to swim happily till now.

ya you bet, i was hyper happy too.

cos this is my 2nd attempt.

1st time did it last year's april but gone case.

cos dr said the embryo was not healthy.

also due to work stress la.

so this 2nd time i quit my job for the sake of this baby.

we've been trying for 7 yrs, fyi.

hi ethanize,

i hv jz email to you liao...

got it?

jz a word of advice though..

mths before you start on the process, i wud suggest that you cud see a good chinese physician or go to those traditional chinese grocery shop that sells chinese herbs, ask the person-in-charge there to get you some "stuff" to strengthen your womb.

IVF is not cheap and if we are well prepared, it's always half a battle won. :)

jia you, jia you!!

hi aishiteru,

if all 4 are healthy, then you jackpot la!

hehe....

btw, you seem to be very keen on this IVF thingy but i understand you are newly married rite?

why the hurry wor, try natural first ma.

it's interesting that a new life can be formed via non-physical method. :)

but to the mommy, the process is no joke.

esp the jabs that last for 6 wks.

imagine your tummy full of "blue blacks"!!

think abt it also scare man.

hi dear ladies,

i just wonder does anybody seen dr surinder singh from tmc fertility centre jb? i am currently seeing him now and he actually has advised me to go for ivf/icsi. he is not bad, will slowly and patiently give us advise. i have actually ttc for almost 2 years. was planning to go for this treatment too next year after cny if still not conceive. but i am not sure how much the treatment will be. they told me it will cost around rm18k.

i know that there are more choices in kl but i stayed in jb and it will be more convinient for me to seek treatment there. but to add to the headache, i am currently working in miri, sarawak. and there are NO fertility specialist here. i only paid a visit to dr surinder each time i am bck to johor. so if i have to do ivf, i need to take about 2 mths leaves.

gerbabies,

can i check with you, when does the first time the treatment take place? i have to plan it carefully since i do not want to waste any time waiting for menses to come, etc... and what chinese herbs did you take prior to the ivf?

thanks for the advice in advance.. and congrats to you gerbabies!!!

venusmaria, i am afraid you really need to take leave should you start on IVF. it's also good for you if you do it in a stress-free environment. you will need lots of support and encouragement from your DH during the process. i hv friends who got really temperamental and cry often in the 6 wks. of course, the hormonal changes are to be blamed too for the moodiness, but with a supportive DH ard can surely minimize the cons in the process.

btw, a friend of mine in jb spent less than RM15k. if you need the contact details, i cud help you ask my friend.

the 1st jab occurs on the 3rd day of your mensus. but you need to hv a consultation session with the dr first so i won't suggest you go see him on this day itself. unless you are already very determined and decided.

as for the chinese herbs, it's usually "bazhen" or "baifengyuan" that the elderly aunty advise you to cook with chicken or lean meat. but i am very lazy and i really hate the bitter taste so ended up taking capsules that contains these herbs. i hv been diligently taking QI-XING's LONGFENGBAO as recommended by my chinese dr in OUG.

sincerely hope you can conceive without going thru the IVF. for all you know, after taking "bazhen" or "baifengyuan", your fertility increases and bb on the way! ***

gerbabies, thanks for the advice.. yeah, i plan to take a rest for 2 mths off for the treatment. luckily i work for my hubby, so should be able to take the leave. and will asked for the gynae's advise too when going bck this coming oct and try to plan for the treatment next year.

your friend aso do the ivf in tmc fertility centre, jb? if it is not, can you pls ask for me where she did it? i would like to have more options to think about it. thanks a lot. oh ya, your friend's ivf successful?

i hope i won't have to go through the ivf too. how i wish i can get preggy naturally. have been thinking it day and night till i dreamt about it when sleeping. it's soooooooooo hard. but it is better than last time whereby i would cry whenever talking to my DH and hubby about it. when menses come each mth, without having to say anything, once saw my DH, my tears won't stop dropping.. BUT luckily, i managed to overcome it and i am thinking much more postively now.

thanks again...

My friend said he and wife did it in England Specialist in JB, Dr Tan Ju Seng. Charges per treatment between 13-15k. In fact, they were successful at 3rd attempt. But unfortunately his wife had a miscarriage at 6th mth. They will be trying again next year.

Don't give up venusmaria. And be positive. There are many pple out there who tried and tried till they preggy. Me and DH hv been trying for 7 yrs the natural way. Finally we resort to IVF as age is catching up :) We were successful at 1st attempt but i had a miscarriage at 3rd mth cos embryo was not healthy. We din give up and tried again after half a yr, now my bb is healthy and has been kicking me since i was 4 mths preggy. :) I do know how you feel everytime mensus come. Don give up ok?

gerbabies,

the 2nd attempts cheaper or same price?

i heard tht some can have their embies frozen

and then when they ready for another child they just

transfer the embies...

and once again, thanks for sharing...

that's true, but they don't freeze embies, it's our eggs that they freeze and store away.

but that's provided you have many "good quality" eggs.

so you will skip the process right up to egg collection.

you pay lesser too.

for my case, I paid same amt for my 2nd attempt as i din hv lots of eggs at 1st round to store.

btw, aishiteru, i noticed you are a moderator.

what does that mean?

sorry abt the ignorance ah... hehe... i am new kid on the block ma. :)

thanks a lot for the info and most importantly, support!! i really need it. and yeah.. i am definately not giving up. as what i have written previously, i am kinda more postive now. so i am now trying to let go naturally till next year. if not, i will move on to ivf. ppl will tend to tell me i am still young, (i am 28) but for me, i dun want to waste more time since we have already tried for 2 years. and since i am still young, hopefully my body is healthy enough for all those treatment.

I have seen dr surinder singh from tmc fertility centre jb. As I am currently working in Singapore, so tmc JB is the nearest for me. I have decided to start ivf/icsi cycle mid of Sept. The only thing that I am worried currently is I do not have leave anymore. Is it truth that it required a 2 weeks rest after the insertion?
