Dear mothers,

I'm working on this training programme called Camp YUBER, which focuses on equipping teens with leadership skills, life skills and learning to learn skills.

You see, after a few camps with teenagers here, I observed one of the common issues they face: Confidence. The confidence to bring themselves forward when we ask a question, the confidence to voice out what they think when working in a team, the confidence to actually make a decision themselves but having someone to decide for them. They underestimate their own ability to achieve something due to fear and insecurity. The ensuing train of issues to be discussed would be lengthy.

At Camp YUBER, there is accelerated learning and experiential learning. Through activities, we allow them to discover unlimited creatives approaches to one matter, and that the learning process is FUN! There are many fun and equally beneficial ways to work on things, be it homework, studying for exams or extra-curricular activities. Learning to learn - When you enjoy learning, it wouldn't be such a chore then would it? We have brain 101, breaking down how the brain works, and mind mapping, knowing how to channel information into your brain effectively. These are some of the few elements out of all the pieces that we work on throughout the 5-day residential camp.

The upcoming Camp YUBER will be on 31 May - 4 June 2011. Hereby I am calling out to parents who would like to guide their teenagers to grow and develop skills and habits that will help them move forward with a better understanding of themselves.

You can contact Eugene (012-686 5820) or Sue (012-201 9581) to find out more about the camp, or visit www.yuber.net.
We will be having consultation sessions on 14 & 21 May (Saturdays) 10am - 3pm at our centre in USJ Taipan as well. Please make an appointment to come in and have a chat.

All good thoughts,
Joanne

Teen bootcamp would be a good way to mold your teenagers to become more creative and proactive. Though parents can help there kids to become more proactive.. :)
